Oncology Acupuncture: Support and Cancer Care

We offer Oncology Acupuncture, a specialized form of acupuncture aimed at providing support during or after cancer.

A cancer diagnosis can feel like a bombshell. It often leads to a rollercoaster of treatments: chemotherapy, radiation, immunotherapy, surgeries, and sometimes long-term hormone therapy. Beyond the impact of the disease itself, these treatments bring intense challenges, affecting you physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Conventional cancer treatments often have challenging side effects, including fatigue, nausea, digestive issues, neuropathy in hands and feet, sleeping problems, pain, and mood swings. Some symptoms can also persist long after treatment, such as pain, menopausal symptoms, and cognitive issues.

Although acupuncture cannot cure cancer, it provides valuable support by bringing balance to your body and mind. Oncology Acupuncture activates your body's natural healing capacity and can help alleviate, or even eliminate, the side effects of treatments.

Our approach focuses on you as a person, not just the disease, so that you feel more resilient and supported throughout your recovery process.

The Benefits of Oncology Acupuncture

In medical centers worldwide, acupuncture is increasingly used as a complement to conventional cancer treatments. Studies show that acupuncture positively affects common symptoms like fatigue, nausea, and pain. Major institutions such as Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and the Mayo Clinic in the United States have been incorporating oncology acupuncture into their treatment programs for years, with results showing that acupuncture contributes to better recovery and quality of life for patients.

When to Start Acupuncture?

The best results are achieved when acupuncture is started alongside conventional medical treatments. This helps better manage side effects and supports your well-being throughout the treatment journey. However, even if you're further along in the process, acupuncture can still provide relief and relaxation. Our treatments are always customized to your specific situation and symptoms, ensuring you receive the best support possible.

Expert and Certified Acupuncturists

Our team includes several acupuncturists who specialize in oncology care. They have successfully completed the Oncology Acupuncture Training Program and are registered in the Cancer Referral Guide of the Netherlands Comprehensive Cancer Organization (IKNL). This certification ensures that our therapists are knowledgeable about the specific needs and considerations surrounding cancer.

Our colleagues, Martine and Gwen, are also instructors in this Oncology program, contributing to the training of future therapists in this field.

Martine has personally experienced the impact which breast cancer can have, when she was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 34. Out of necessity she started looking for ways to regain her energy and rebalance her body. So she researched different treatment modalities that traditional Chinese medicine has to offer to (post-) breast cancer patients. Over the past years she has helped many breast cancer patients with acupuncture, herbs and nutritional advice.
