Moxa Therapy

Moxa is made of compressed Chinese wormwood (Artemisia) leafs. Moxa therapy is used to warm and stimulate acupuncture points through a process called moxibustion. It improves circulation to relieve pain, boosts energy, and is used to warm the uterus to treat some types of infertility. We even use it to encourage breech babies to turn.
Most people experience this kind of therapy to be very pleasant. Whether or not we use moxa for your treatment depends on your complaints.

Breech Treatment

Ineke van den Berg, researcher at Erasmus MC, carried out research in 2010 on the effects of moxa for turning breech babies. The results were astonishing: no less than 75% of breech babies turned succesfully into normal position! Moxa therapy is therefore a safe and proven method.

Ideally, we start the Breech-treatment around your 34th week, because then there is still plenty of amniotic fluid and space to help natural rotation. The later moxa treatment is started, the less likely the baby will turn.

All our therapists have extensive experience with moxa-breech-treatment.
