Acupuncture

Acupuncture works with the vital life force referred to as “qi” in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Acupuncture’s key principle is stimulating the Qi-flow in such a way that the body’s self-healing abilities are activated and thus rebalance the body.

Acupuncture is practice that entails inserting very thin, sterile needles into specific points on the meridians. The acupuncture points are chosen according to your specific diagnosis. Inserting the needles is basically painless, although patients often feel ‘a little jolt’, this is the Qi being touched by the needle. Once the needles are in, most of our patients feel a sense of deep relaxation & even sleepiness!

Qi runs through our body using an extensive system of channels, called meridians. These meridians supply all organs, muscles, tissues etc. with nutrition and vitality. When one or multiple meridians are obstructed, the energy stagnates, which can cause an organ elsewhere to be undernourished. By needling and manipulating acupuncture points we release areas of blocked Qi which stimulates organ function & promotes health.
Using acupuncture, we prompt your body’s intelligence to restore balance.

Herbal Therapy

Herbal medicine is one of the main pillars of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and is considered indispensable in TCM Gynecology in particular. Especially in these modern times where we see more and more energetic 'deficiencies', herbs can be an important addition to acupuncture. Our formulas are 'tailor-made'. We combine different herbs so that a herbal formula is created for your personal condition. At Zi Yuan Ting we almost always work with herbs in granule form. This means that the herbs have already been boiled and processed into a powder, and you only need to add hot water to drink it as a tea. We do not supply the herbal formulas ourselves, but forward the tailormade recipes to the Natuur Apotheek or Dragon Herbs. Both herbal suppliers work solely with herbs that are strictly controlled and check for heavy metals, pesticides or prohibited animal species. This ensures safe, high quality herbs. You pay the cost of the herbal formulas directly to the supplier.

Massage

Our signature massages help restore your hormonal balance. How does that work?

When the body stores a lot of tension, your HPA (hypothalamus-pituitary-Adrenal) axis becomes overworked. This then suppresses your HPO (Hypothalamus-pituitary-Ovary) axis, i.e. your brain is no longer communicating optimally with your ovaries and uterus, which cause your hormones to become out of balance. By addressing specific areas where your body stores these stresses, you can achieve deep relaxation. And that ensures a healthier, fitter and better hormonally balanced body!

We have developed four signature massages with special blends of essential oils that combine the best of East and West, making these sessions a real bliss.

All massage treatments last 75' to get optimal results.

Moxa Therapy

Moxa is made of compressed Chinese wormwood (Artemisia) leafs. Moxa therapy is used to warm and stimulate acupuncture points through a process called moxibustion. It improves circulation to relieve pain, boosts energy, and is used to warm the uterus to treat some types of infertility. We even use it to encourage breech babies to turn.

Most people experience this kind of therapy to be very pleasant. Whether or not we use moxa for your treatment depends on your complaints.

Nutritional advice

Chinese Medicine traditionally pays a lot of attention to the energetics of different foods and how they affect us according to our unique pattern and constitution. Therefore, nutritional and lifestyle advice are part of the holistic approach that is typical for Chinese Medicine and will always be included in your treatment.
